The documents we handle

Documents in the retail & e-commerce field

Twenty-five kilometres from Brussels and a few kilometres from the language border, a business in Walloon Brabant works in Dutch almost as much as in French. Tourism around Waterloo and its battlefield adds English, German and Spanish. Selling in a language is not moving words across: it is finding again the phrasing that triggers the purchase.

01

Websites and online shops

Pages, menus, checkout funnels and error messages, exported and reimported without breaking your template.

02

Multilingual search visibility

Title tags, descriptions, alternative texts and page addresses, written with the words people actually type in each language.

03

Product sheets

Descriptions, technical specifications, size charts and care instructions, one at a time or by whole catalogue.

04

General terms

Terms of sale, returns policy, mandatory statements and pre-contractual information, reviewed by a lawyer.

05

Campaigns and social media

Ads, newsletters, posts and taglines, adapted rather than translated when the wordplay does not survive the border.

06

Customer relations

Reply templates, frequently asked questions, greeting scripts and letters answering a complaint.

Retail & e-commerce
The way we work

The retail & e-commerce field in Walloon Brabant

From Wavre, two markets are immediately within reach: Brussels and its two million consumers twenty-five kilometres away, and Flanders, whose language border begins just north of the province. A hook, a guarantee or a reassurance argument does not survive literal transposition. They are rewritten in the target language while keeping your way of speaking, otherwise the Flemish visitor closes the tab.

Your local customers are not monolingual either: the residential belt of Waterloo, Lasne and La Hulpe is home to families who read English before French. We work directly in your tools, WordPress, Shopify, InDesign or an XLIFF export, and hand the layout back untouched, page titles, meta descriptions and alt attributes included.

Your terms and conditions, your legal notice and your returns policy are not marketing. They go to a legal translator, because a vague clause costs more than a slogan that falls flat.

The interpreter in the room

When a written translation stops being enough

When a negotiation runs live or an audience is waiting in a room, you need someone who keeps the pace without letting the thread drop.

Commercial meetings

Meeting a Dutch-speaking buyer, presenting a range or discussing a distribution contract.

Trade fairs

Support on a stand, in Belgium or abroad, to carry a full sales conversation through.

Network training

Training resellers or franchisees from several countries, over a single day or a full week.

Remote meetings

Interpreting over video, for a committee, a product demonstration or a review with a supplier.

A machine translation published as it stands is spotted within three lines, and it costs more than it brings in: the Dutch-speaking visitor closes the page. On general terms the risk changes nature, since a badly rendered clause remains enforceable against your company.

How it unfolds

What happens between your upload and the handover

Your retail & e-commerce file stays with one and the same project manager, from the first document received to the final handover.

  1. 01

    Send the document over

Any readable phone snap will do, however badly framed. Booking an interpreter instead? Send the date, the address and the pair of languages involved.

  2. 02

After 1 h you know price and deadline

You learn the figure, the delivery date and which route applies: sworn where an authority insists, standard everywhere else. Nothing to pay, nothing to sign.

  3. 03

The file goes to a specialist

Your text is handed to a linguist who uses retail & e-commerce terminology daily, then passes under a second pair of eyes.

  4. 04

    Handover or on-site assignment

The digital version reaches you by email. If a counter wants the stamped original, it travels by registered post. For a spoken assignment, the interpreter is there at the agreed hour.

What we commit to

What really counts on a retail & e-commerce file

01

Keywords are researched, not translated

A Dutch speaker does not type the literal translation of your French keyword. We start from what is genuinely searched for in the target language before writing the page.

02

Adaptation rather than translation

On a tagline or a strapline we put forward several versions along with their intent, and you choose. A good line carried across word for word stops raising a smile.

03

A linguist from your own trade

We do not send a specialised text to a generalist. Urgency changes nothing about that rule, it only makes it harder to honour.

04

Confidentiality put in writing

Nobody touches your file without a signed confidentiality undertaking. Storage sits on servers inside the European Union, and one written request from you is enough to erase everything.

05

The quoted amount is the invoiced amount

No surcharge surfaces along the way. Translation, revision and handover all sit inside the figure you approved at the start.

06

Travel included within our area

Our interpreters drive to Wavre, Nivelles, Waterloo, Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Braine-l'Alleud, Rixensart or Jodoigne with no mileage charge.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to give you access to our interface?

Not necessarily. We take your exports, in XLIFF, in CSV or in a spreadsheet, and return them in the same format, ready to reimport. On request we can also work inside your system, with access restricted to the pages concerned.

Is a Dutch version really worth it?

The language border runs a few kilometres north of Wavre and Brussels is twenty-five kilometres away. Many companies in the province discover that part of their customer base is already searching in Dutch without finding them. That is often the first call to make.

Do you translate the general terms?

Yes, and not with the same person as the product sheets. A warranty or withdrawal clause has to remain valid under the governing law: those texts go to a legal translator and then through a review.

How long for a full catalogue?

It depends on the volume and the number of languages. Send us an export: we count the real words, deducting what repeats from one sheet to the next, and you get a firm delivery date within the hour.
