Translation proofreading and revision
in Wavre and Walloon Brabant
A translation done by a colleague, inherited from a previous supplier or produced by a machine: we read it against the original, correct what has to be corrected and restore a terminology that holds.

From a simple check to a full rework
The level of intervention follows the state of the text and its intended use, never the size of the invoice.
Comparative revision
Every segment is set against the source text: reversed meaning, skipped sentence, false friend, date, amount, proper name.
Spelling and typography
Punctuation, agreement, capitalisation, end-of-line breaks and the typographic conventions applied in Belgium.
Terminology harmonisation
The text is brought back onto your glossary and your earlier publications, so that the same device does not change name between two chapters.
Post-editing of machine translation
Machine output is reworked until it can be circulated. The exercise bears little resemblance to ordinary proofreading.
Tuning the register
An accurate text can still miss its reader by sounding too bureaucratic or too casual. We set the tone against the person reading.
Report of changes
Corrections come back annotated if you wish. That is what moves a team translating on its own side forward.
A few pages read, then a straight opinion
Having an existing text reworked is far cheaper than having it translated again, provided something can still be made of it.
So we go through a sample first, free of charge, and tell you what the situation is. If it is riddled with misreadings, we recommend a fresh translation, even though a revision would have earned us more that day.
Nothing binds you at this stage. What you avoid is a correction invoice at the end of which the text is still unusable.
- First reading not invoiced
- Compared word for word with the original
- Corrections visible in the file
- Rework of machine-generated text
Who sends us texts to rework
Four situations come up regularly in Walloon Brabant.
Translation done in-house
Someone on the team is comfortable in English or Dutch and took it on. The content holds, a validation before publication is missing.
Text out of a machine
Publishing raw output from an automatic tool shows immediately. A human rework makes the text presentable without blowing the budget.
Paper written in English
A researcher from UCLouvain or from a company in the science park drafts the article in English. A native reviewer from the field turns it into natural language without touching the argument.
Document with a lot at stake
A tender submission, a regulatory leaflet, a letter to an important client: that is where the second reading pays for itself.
Once misreadings pile up, revision costs more than retranslation and the result still limps. We say so after reading the sample, before any order, because invoicing a revision on a lost text serves nobody.
From sample to publishable text
No order is opened before the state of the text has been established.
- 01
You send us a sample
The original text and its translation, or failing that a few pages considered representative of the whole.
- 02
A verdict at no cost
We give you the real state of the text, then our recommendation: revise, or start again from a fresh translation.
- 03
Revision against the source
A native specialist reviewer works with both versions side by side: correcting, levelling out and applying your terminology.
- 04
Return
The corrected file returns laid out exactly as you handed it over, carrying revision marks whenever you have requested them.
Not convinced by a translation someone delivered?
Send a few pages. The reading is on us and the opinion will be clear.
What a revision covers
Native specialist reviewer
The criteria match those for a translator: target language as mother tongue and genuine knowledge of your sector.
The source always open
A translation read on its own lets omissions and reversed meanings through. Both versions stay open from start to finish.
A frank opinion, free of charge
Sometimes retranslating is the right call. We say so, even when a revision would be the more profitable option for us.
Changes tracked
Every correction stays visible and justified. That is what allows an in-house team to make progress.
Short turnarounds
Most volumes are handled in one to three working days, since reworking an existing text is quicker than starting over.
The same confidentiality
A signed undertaking, storage on servers located inside the European Union, and deletion whenever you ask for it.
Frequently asked questions
Proofreading or revision?
Proofreading stops at the target text: grammar, spelling, typography. Revision opens the original alongside and picks up reversed meanings, skipped passages and vocabulary drift. We propose the second, the only one that genuinely protects the document.
Do you correct text produced by a machine?
Yes, that is post-editing, and demand keeps growing. One reservation all the same: a sensitive document pasted into an online tool has already left your premises. In that case a human translation from day one is the wiser choice.
Do you take on dossiers destined for medicines agencies?
Yes, and demand for that is constant in the province. Such dossiers follow imposed wording that the reviewer must master as well as the language: they go to life sciences specialists, never to a generalist.
And what about layout?
We repair the damage the translation caused: lines running over, faulty word breaks, lost non-breaking spaces, tables distorted because the target language takes up more room. A full graphic overhaul, on the other hand, is another trade, and we say so rather than invoicing blind.
